The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case in a special court on Thursday against Kishori Prasad Yadav, the then acting head of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office, Kalaiya, Bara, for abusing his position and acquiring illegal assets.
The CIAA has filed a case against Yadav, demanding a fine, confiscation of illegal assets and imprisonment. The CIAA has also made Yadav's wife Nirmala Kumari a defendant for the purpose of confiscating assets.
According to CIAA spokesperson Suresh Neupane, Yadav entered service on Asad 11, 2047. The CIAA has stated that after examining his assets for 33 years and 6 months from his entry into service to Poush 29, 2080, it was found that he had invested illegal assets in real estate, shares, etc. and the amount was fixed for the same assets whose source was not disclosed. During this period, Yadav had a legal income of Rs. 34,621,401. The Authority has counted salary and allowances, real estate sales, agricultural income, interest income, and income of wife and son as legitimate sources.
During the same period, a total of Rs 49.32 million was spent on land purchase, house construction, share and vehicle purchase, study expenses, purchase of electronic equipment, and bank balance. The Authority alleges that the undisclosed assets were linked to corruption as the investment and expenditure were more than the legitimate income.
Thus, the expenditure was Rs 14.681 million by 90 paisa more than the total income, and the source of that amount has not been confirmed, and the Authority claims that the source of that amount has not been confirmed.
'A case has been filed against both of them as it was found that the assets illegally acquired by abusing authority while holding public office are also in the name of the wife,' the Authority stated in the charge sheet filed on Thursday.
The amount of Rs 14.681 crore has been recovered and a fine and imprisonment are demanded. In addition, the property acquired through illegal means has also been demanded to be confiscated.
