Sanjeev Satgainya has been appointed as the Features and Investigations Editor of Kantipur Publications. On Monday, Kantipur Media Group appointed Satgainya as the Features/Investigations Editor.
Satgainya will lead the editorial team of features and investigative journalism for Kantipur Daily, Kathmandu Post and KMG’s digital platforms. He will also report to the Group Editorial Director of Kantipur Media Group, KMG said in a statement. Satgainya will also lead an independent team of senior correspondents and investigative journalists, KMG said.
Satgainya has over two decades of experience in English-language journalism in Nepal. He also held the editorial leadership of Kathmandu Post from February 2020 to September 2022. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he restructured the newspaper's editorial policy to prioritize in-depth reporting on politics, government, accountability and human rights, as well as public health.
Group Editorial Director Anup Kafle said that Satgainya's appointment reflects KMG's commitment to building an experienced and visionary editorial team. Kafle said about Satgainya's appointment, "He is the kind of editor who raises tough questions before any news is published. He is also a suitable candidate for this position because of his deep knowledge of Nepal's political and social landscape."
Satgainya, a permanent resident of Dang, started journalism with The Himalayan Times in 2002. There, he moved from feature reporting to copy desk and became an assistant editor. He has also written for The Hindu and Himal South Asian.
