An expert team has reached the Khumbu region for the Gokyo Climate Summit-2026 in the Gokyo region of Solukhumbu.

A team of leaders from various sectors has left Khumbu for the upper region to reach Gokyo Lake, located at an altitude of 5,000 meters, for the conference to be held on the occasion of World Earth Day on April 9.

The conference, organized by Sattha, an NGO working in the field of environmental protection, will discuss the challenges of climate change. There will also be interactions on the impact of climate change on the Himalayas and the Himalayan region, the melting of glaciers, and the impact on local life. In addition, there will be a debate on sustainable tourism and environmental protection, said Balkrishna Basnet, a member of the organization.

Basnet said that this conference aims to spread the message of saving the Himalayas, inspire people to be responsible towards the environment, and protect nature for future generations. Prajita Karki, the chairperson of the organizing organization Sattha, said that 31 people, including members of the House of Representatives and former Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, participated in the conference.
