In the current spring season (March 1 to April 15, 2026), 700 foreign climbers have been granted permission to climb Nepal's mountains. According to the data released by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, a total of 700 climbers, including 523 men and 177 women, from 69 countries have obtained permits.

According to the country-wise details, the largest number of climbers is from the United States (71). This is followed by climbers from countries including the United Kingdom (48), Russia (45), Germany (55), India (49) and China (89).

According to the Department of Tourism, a total of 5079,380 US dollars (about 755.8 million rupees) in royalties have been collected from mountain climbing during this period.

The highest royalty of 4385 thousand US dollars (about more than 650 million rupees) has been collected from Everest alone. 297 climbers from 30 teams have obtained permits for Everest, including 234 men and 63 women.

Similarly, 70 climbers have obtained permits for Ama Dablam, 54 for Makalu, 41 for Lhotse and 27 for Annapurna I. According to the department, mountaineering activities have increased significantly in the spring season this year. Which has given a positive signal in the revival of the tourism sector.
