The seventh edition of the Karnali festival 'Kuda Karnali' is starting in Birendranagar from today (Saturday). The festival, which will be held at the premises of the City Hall in Birendranagar until Monday, will feature 15 main debates and 10 short sessions, according to the organizer, Rhiti Foundation. The festival will be inaugurated on Saturday with Sat Dhun, while Birendranagar Municipality Mayor Mohan Maya Dhakal will deliver a speech on women's leadership. Similarly, Devendra Raman Khanal will explain banking investment in Karnali and Keshav Dahal will explain Mokshabhoomi Karnali. The festival coordinator, Kamal Raj Lamsal, said that 5 main and 2 short sessions will be conducted on the first day. According to him, the first day will feature sessions on 'Suina Karnali', 'Genji-Sadak to Sadan Samm', 'Shaktiko Sopan: Baadphant to Bikas Samm' and 'Jurukk Karnali'.
Although the festival was held in the first week of Falgun in previous years, the program is being delayed due to the election of members of the House of Representatives, he informed. ‘We are conducting the program to brainstorm the challenges, possibilities and opportunities of Karnali through ideas,’ he said, ‘We expect it to also help connect Karnali to the mainstream of development.’
He said that such festivals are important to overcome social distortions and frustrations through discussions and to build an equitable society. According to him, about 80 experts, policymakers and civic leaders from various fields will participate in the program.
