The Ministry of Health and Population has directed hospitals across the country to operate OPD services on Sundays as well. The Ministry of Health has announced in a press release that the decision was taken to ensure continuous and effective delivery of health services in the context of the government's implementation of the system of granting two public holidays on Saturdays and Sundays. After the government announced two days off a week, some government hospitals had decided to close OPD services. However, considering the inconvenience that may be faced by patients, the ministry has decided to operate OPD services on Sundays as well. The press release states that hospitals should assess their workload and available manpower and operate OPD services on Sundays. In addition, it has been directed to give employees who work on Sundays a day off or, if that is not possible, provide them with a day off instead. The ministry has also been asked to coordinate with the health sector ministries in all seven provinces to operate OPD services on Sundays in provincial hospitals and make arrangements accordingly for employees.
