Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal has met with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in Mauritius. Khanal and Jaishankar held a 'sideline' meeting while they were attending the Indian Ocean Conference held in Mauritius on Friday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, both leaders reviewed the long-term and multidimensional relations between Nepal and India. The Ministry mentioned on social media 'X' that the meeting held constructive and future-oriented discussions on issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, both expressed a shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation. Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar also congratulated Khanal on his appointment as Nepal's Foreign Minister. Minister Khanal said that the multidimensional relations between the two countries were reviewed during the meeting. Writing on social media, he said that there were positive and far-sighted discussions on issues of mutual interest. He said that the discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Similarly, Jaishankar also wrote in 'X' that the two countries discussed the realization of the full potential of partnership through cooperation in various fields. Similarly, Minister Khanal also met with Bhutanese Foreign Minister DN Dhungel, who was attending the Mauritius conference. The Indian Ocean Conference is being organized in Mauritius by the Delhi-based think tank India Foundation with the support of the Ministry of External Affairs of India. The conference will run from 27-29 Chaitra.
