The number of insured persons affiliated with health insurance has reached 5.97 million. The Health Insurance Board announced at a program organized on Wednesday on the occasion of Insurance Day that the number of insured persons has reached 5.97 million. The health insurance program has been expanded to 750 local levels in all 77 districts. In addition, 505 health service providers are currently affiliated with the program, said the board's executive director, Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel. According to the board, 13 billion rupees have been paid in the current fiscal year. Similarly, Executive Director Poudel stated that 25 billion rupees are required by the end of the current fiscal year. Minister for Employment and Social Security Deepak Kumar Sah said that cooperation is essential to make the insurance system systematic and sustainable. He also expressed his commitment to operating the social health security program through a single-door system.
Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dilliram Sharma, stated that coordination of all parties is necessary to make the health insurance program effective.
Similarly, at the program, Health Insurance Board Chairman Chandra Bahadur Thapa Chhetri mentioned that although the program was successful in terms of access and service utilization, it was financially challenging.
