The Nepali Embassy in Oman has requested people not to pay a large amount of money to come to Oman for work.
The embassy has made this request after the number of people who have arrived on a visit visa in search of work and are stranded has increased. ‘There are many problems in rescuing people who have come on a visit visa and overstayed and are staying illegally,’ the embassy said in a statement issued on Wednesday. ‘No one is requested to come on a visit visa for work.’
Oman is implementing a system from October 31, 2023, which prohibits changing the visa to work after coming to Oman on a tourist visa or visit visa. However, human traffickers are using Oman as a transit point to smuggle domestic workers.
