Prime Minister Balendra Shah has said that Nepal will continue its balanced and pragmatic foreign policy. He stressed that peace should be a common priority in global diplomacy.

In a group meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of various countries in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shah emphasized on strengthening relations with neighbors, friendly countries and development partners based on trust, mutual respect and shared prosperity. Shah met with ambassadors of all countries simultaneously at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

This is the first time he has met the heads of diplomatic missions since becoming Prime Minister on Chaitra 13. In his address to the ambassadors, he said that the government has given special importance to the security and welfare of Nepali workers and expatriate Nepalis abroad. He said that the government is eager to further strengthen relations with friendly countries.

He mentioned that the Nepalese government attaches high importance to relations with all countries and is committed to strengthening partnerships based on trust and mutual benefit. The government said it is committed to creating a conducive environment for investment, promoting entrepreneurship and supporting sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by heads of 17 diplomatic missions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that representatives from India, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, Qatar, Switzerland, France, Israel, Japan, Bangladesh, Germany, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, China, the United States and the United Nations participated.

The ambassadors congratulated the Prime Minister and extended best wishes on behalf of their respective heads of state and government. They also expressed their commitment to continue working for the benefit of the new government and the Nepali people, and to continue cooperation and assistance. Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, Political Advisor to the Prime Minister Asim Shah, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai were present at the meeting.
