The government is going to take a concessional loan of 85 million US dollars (about 12.63 billion Nepalese rupees - according to today's rate) from the World Bank for the Greater Lumbini Area Development Project.
Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal informed that the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to accept the loan provided by the World Bank for the greater development of the Lumbini area.
The World Bank board meeting held in Washington DC, USA, on March 13 had decided to provide a concessional loan to develop Lumbini as a spiritual, cultural and tourist destination.

The project will be operated by the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism. The project implementation unit of urban development is located in Bhairahawa. Preparations are underway to place the Urban Development and Building Office and the project implementation unit of the Ministry of Tourism under the Lumbini Development Fund.
