The government has appointed Kiran Pandit as the Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. The Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to make Pandit the Deputy Governor.

Similarly, the meeting appointed Gunakar Bhatta as the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, informed Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister Pratibha Rawal. Prakash Kumar Shrestha was the Vice Chairman during the interim government.

Bhatta retired as per the Nepal Rastra Bank Employee Regulations, which stipulates mandatory retirement after seven years of being an Executive Director. There is a provision for retirement after 30 years of service in Nepal Rastra Bank, 12 years for those at the age of 58 or above and 7 years for those at the level of Executive Director.

In 2082 Baisakh, he resigned from the position of Executive Director of the Rastra Bank to become the Governor. But his resignation was not accepted. Bhatta has a PhD in Economics.
