Kathmandu District Court has allowed UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak to be detained for five more days.

The Gauri Bahadur Karki-led inquiry commission formed to investigate the incident had found the then Prime Minister Oli, the then Home Minister Lekhak and other responsible officials guilty and recommended action.

The first cabinet meeting of the government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, which was formed on Chaitra 13 after the House of Representatives elections held on Falgun 21, had decided to immediately implement the report of the inquiry commission. They were immediately arrested for investigation. Both were arrested on Chaitra 14.

The Supreme Court has begun hearing the habeas corpus petitions of Oli and Lekhak since Sunday.
