The habeas corpus writ filed by former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak is being heard today. Their petition has been scheduled for presentation in the bench of Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

The case is filed under case number D. The government had arrested Oli and Lekhak on the recommendation of the commission led by former Justice Gauri Bahadur Karki, which was formed to investigate the Gen-G movement. Their statements are being heard at the District Government Attorney's Office.

The habeas corpus petition filed by their families is going to be heard in two parts from today. Earlier, the Supreme Court had issued a show cause order and ordered them to submit a written reply within three days. The hearing to be held today will decide whether to keep them in custody and proceed with further investigation or keep them on bail.

The police arrested Oli and the writer on Chaitra 14 based on a report recommending an investigation into the human losses caused during the Gen-G protests on Bhadra 23 and 24.
