After Gagan Thapa was elected as the president of the special general convention and the Election Commission recognized him, Sher Bahadur Deuba's side filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against it. Purna Bahadur Khadka filed the writ petition on behalf of Deuba.
The Supreme Court had issued a show-cause order in the first hearing on Magh 20. The bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel had sought a written reply. Earlier, the pleadings were scheduled for the second hearing on Chaitra 1, but it was postponed due to lack of time to see it.
