The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has banned 'middlemen' in its subordinate bodies.
'This decision has been made with the aim of making public services provided by departments, bodies and offices under the ministry simple, easy, transparent and effective,' the ministry said in a statement issued on Friday. 'Any kind of irregularities, collection of unwanted fees, involvement of middlemen and causing unnecessary hassle to service recipients in the service delivery process are strictly prohibited.'
The Transport Management Department is the body directly concerned with service recipients under the ministry. The department is responsible for printing driver's licenses, attaching embossed numbers, etc. In various transport management offices, middlemen have been charging money from service recipients for quick license issuance and blue book renewal.
