A meeting of the Judicial Council has been called for Friday afternoon. The council meeting has been called to discuss the complaints filed against district and high court judges.

A council source said that the study report on the judges who acquitted four people including former minister Mohammad Aftab Alam will also be discussed in today's meeting. Earlier, a complaint was filed with the Judicial Council demanding an investigation against High Court Janakpur and temporary bench Birgunj judges Khushi Prasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam is also participating in the council meeting. The member of the Judicial Council, which is chaired by the Chief Justice, is the Law Minister. The current chairperson of the council is Acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla.

Similarly, the other members include the senior-most judges of the Supreme Court, Kumar Regmi, Mahesh Kumar Nepal, and Damodar Khadka. It is the practice for the Judicial Council Secretary* Jitendra Babu Thapaliya to serve as the member secretary in the council meetings.
