Based on the report of the commission formed to investigate the Gen-G movement, UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who were arrested last Saturday, have been arrested and are being investigated by the police.

For health and security reasons, the police have kept them in separate places as per their needs and are continuing the investigation. According to the police, Oli was admitted to the teaching hospital on Saturday for a health check-up immediately after his arrest. Considering his old age and the health condition of Oli, who has already undergone a kidney transplant, the investigation is still being carried out under the supervision of a doctor. The court has also made arrangements for Oli to give his statement and other court proceedings through video conferencing.

Lekhak, on the other hand, is being kept under tight security at the police camp. He is in Nepal Police Battalion No. 2, Maharajgunj. Since both the arrested leaders are in the annual mourning period, their daily lives appear to be similar. According to police sources, they are consuming only food brought by their families even while in custody.

‘Both of them are grieving the loss of their parents, so they are using only what the family has brought, from food to water,’ a police officer said. ‘Even though they are in the police station, the writer is also using food and water brought from home.’

The police have also tightened their restrictions on meeting them for security reasons. The police have stated that they are not allowing anyone except family members and legal professionals to visit them.
