Independent MP Mahabir Pun has said that universities should be freed from politics. He stressed that the 18 universities currently in operation should be kept away from political influence and focused on improving the quality of education.

He said that the promotion of science and technology in Nepal should be prioritized and employment should be created for the youth in the country. 'The country cannot move forward economically without the development of science and technology,' he said in today's meeting of the House of Representatives.

MP Pun expressed concern over the increasing political influence in the school management committee, stating that changes in the education regulations are necessary to correct various irregularities seen in school education.

Similarly, he stressed that political interference in the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) should be ended.
