A young man who went missing on the Helambu-Langtang-Gosaikunda trekking route has been rescued safely after 12 hours by a joint security team.
Manish Shakya, 24, of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14, Godavari, was trapped in a mountain gorge at Bhuli Gang while returning to Kutumsang from Tharepati area.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, a joint team of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force was mobilized as soon as information about his condition was received on Tuesday afternoon. The Nepal Army's Srinath Battalion Security Group Shermathang, the Area Police Office, Helambu and the Armed Police Force team based in Ambathan participated in the rescue.
According to District Superintendent of Police Kazi Kumar Acharya, he was rescued safely on Wednesday after a search and rescue operation.
After the rescue, he was sent home after undergoing an initial health check-up at a nearby health post, according to the police. "He was alone on the old trekking route. He was stranded in the gorge due to lack of mobile network. It was very difficult to locate him," said SP Acharya. He said that he was sent to Kathmandu after undergoing a health check-up immediately after his rescue.
