The High Court has ruled to dismiss the writ petition filed against CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet. A woman had filed a writ petition claiming that the rape allegations against Basnet were not investigated.

A joint bench of High Court Justices Somkant Mainali and Keshav Adhikari has upheld the decision of the Kathmandu District Government Attorney, dismissing the rape petition filed against Basnet.

The woman had filed a complaint against Basnet at the District Police Complex. It was decided not to prosecute her writ petition, saying that the claim was not sufficient. She had approached the High Court against that decision. With this high court ruling, her charges against Mahesh Basnet have been dismissed.

The police had not granted permission to arrest her at the Kathmandu District Court on Chaitra 16.
