The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order to the government on the habeas corpus petition of former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order and has ordered a written response. The bench of Justice Meghraj Pokharel has made this order. Earlier, the Supreme Court had also issued a show cause order on the petition of former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhal. The court has also asked the government to appear in court for a hearing along with the reasons for their arrest.
On behalf of Oli, his wife Radhika Shakya had filed a habeas corpus petition. On Saturday, the police arrested Oli and Lekhal for investigation in the incidents of 23 and 24 Bhadra. The family had filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this, alleging that they were being illegally detained.
