Lumbini Province Assembly member Rekha Sharma has been arrested. Elected from UML, she was arrested from Dhumbarahi in Kathmandu on Sunday night.

She was arrested by a team deployed from the Valley Crime Investigation Office, said office chief and Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Khadka.

She is accused of committing crimes against children by employing a minor as a domestic worker. A few years ago, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City rescued a girl from her home.

The then Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah wrote about the girl on his Facebook wall on 29 Magh 2081, 'Sir Nanu! The government has decided not to prosecute your perpetrators. Don't panic. The time will come.'

He also said, 'You and many other children like you should study to eradicate such discrimination, crimes and bring those who commit such crimes to justice.' He also mentioned that society should be understood.
