Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel, speaking to media persons after Monday's cabinet meeting, said that a general discussion has begun on the process of paying the amount to ordinary savers with savings of less than Rs 100,000 as a priority. However, no formal announcement or decision has been made by the cabinet or the concerned body on this issue. He clarified that the government is very sensitive to the problems of cooperative victims and a decision will be taken in the interest of savers after completing the legal process.
Minister Pokharel claimed that the government is moving towards implementing the reports of the investigation committees and commissions formed at various times, not shelved. He said that the government is clear about the implementation of the Karki report in particular. He clarified that work is being done to bring those involved in past incidents to justice and that no political vendetta is involved in this.
He pledged that the government will fully support the investigation and court process conducted by all state bodies and organs and will not interfere in any way. He said that even though the incident of the 24th is considered a reaction to the 23rd, those who intrude and have a criminal mindset will be dealt with according to the law. He argued that the government will not allow the rule of law to be mocked and that arrests and investigations are being carried out according to the orders or permission given by the court.
