The police are preparing to seek permission from the court to detain former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for at least 10 days.
The investigation officers of the District Police Complex, Kathmandu, in coordination with the government attorney, are preparing to seek permission to detain both Oli and Lekhak for at least 10 days and conduct an investigation.
The police have already taken Lekhak to the government attorney's office, while Oli has been presented before the bench through a virtual 'video call'. Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ramesh Thapa says, 'After yesterday's arrest, we have taken further legal action.' He said that a detailed investigation will begin after receiving a summons from the court.
The Council of Ministers had decided to implement the report given by the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led commission formed to investigate the incidents that took place on 23 and 24 Bhadra. The Ministry of Home Affairs had written to the Police Headquarters to take action immediately. After that, Oli, the writer, was arrested.
Oli has been kept under observation at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital due to health reasons. UML is also protesting against his arrest.
