A case has been registered in the Surkhet District Court against four people accused of gang rape and murder in the death of 16-year-old Inisha BK from Surkhet.

The District Public Prosecutor's Office, Surkhet, filed a charge sheet on Sunday based on the opinion of the police investigation. According to District Attorney Karna Bahadur Mahat, a case has been filed against all four people involved in the incident for rape and manslaughter. The charge sheet states that they have been found guilty of gang rape and manslaughter under the Criminal Code, 2074 BS.

The Public Prosecutor's Office has demanded life imprisonment for the accused for gang rape and murder. It has also demanded a fine and compensation for the victim's family.

On February 23, Inisha of Birendranagar Municipality-1 left home saying she was going to school. She was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest in Birendranagar-4.

After the incident, the police had taken four people, including a 16-year-old boy, who was her acquaintance, into custody and investigated. Various teams, including the Central Investigation Bureau of the police, had investigated for about 19 days. However, the government prosecutor's office has registered a case in court alleging murder after gang rape based on the available evidence.

The victim's family and locals staged a sit-in in front of the Surkhet District Court on Sunday, alleging that there was no fair investigation into the incident.
