The Nepali Congress has stated that the entire legal process, including the investigation and prosecution of the individuals and organizations involved in the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, should be carried out in a fair, transparent and lawful manner.

The Nepali Congress has made its position public on the incident of the arrest of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak on Saturday.

The Nepali Congress has made it clear that the entire legal process, including the investigation and prosecution of the individuals and organizations involved in the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, should be carried out in a fair, transparent and lawful manner.

Making public a 5-point position on Saturday evening, the Nepali Congress said, 'We want to clarify once again that the people should know who was involved in the incident of Bhadra 23 as well as the arson and destruction on 24. Whoever was involved in the incidents of both days should be taken action. We stand with them. However, that action should not be based on provocation and impulse, but should be in accordance with the legal process. If the government is not restrained and mature in this, a hasty decision may weaken the rule of law, and the country may again go towards conflict and instability. Therefore, the Nepali Congress urges the government to be serious in this regard.'

In the context of the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, the Nepali Congress has stated that on Bhadra 25 itself, the Nepali Congress demanded an investigation into the repression of Bhadra 23 and the destruction of Bhadra 24 through a high-level commission and action against the guilty. The Congress's opinion letter reminds that on Bhadra 27 itself, the Central Working Committee meeting chaired by the then Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka had urged an investigation into the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 and bringing those found guilty to justice. Spokesperson Devraj Chalise stated that the Congress has been unwavering and firm in its support for the need to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24 in a fair, legal and impartial manner and take necessary legal action.

The Congress has also stated that the fact that the Commission of Inquiry looked into the Bhadra 23 incident in detail but ignored the Bhadra 24 incident is prima facie contrary to the rule of law and flawed. The opinion letter states- 'The report also states that an investigation was not conducted in the context of the Bhadra 24 incident.' If so, the report is one-sided and incomplete, and it also seems to strengthen the question raised by the Supreme Court regarding the impartiality of Gauri Bahadur Karki regarding the report itself.'
