Marijuana was found during a check-up on a passenger who arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok on Thai Air on Monday after suspicions arose.

A Thai national has been arrested with 3 kg 435 grams of marijuana at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. The arrested person has been identified as 39-year-old Yonghut Thuyvan. 

According to Airport Security Office spokesperson Dhundiraj Neupane, marijuana was found during a check-up after suspicions were raised on a passenger who arrived in Kathmandu from Bangkok via Thai Air on Monday. 

‘We have seized it from the arrival tunnel gate while it was being hidden inside a suitcase,’ he said. ‘He has been sent to the Narcotics Control Bureau, Koteshwor for further action.’
