The President's Office has clarified that the government's recommendation to appoint Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal as a member of the National Assembly is under consideration.
Aryal's recommendation to the National Assembly is under consideration in accordance with the established process of forming a new government, the writ filed in the court, and the constitutional provisions, said the President's Press Advisor Kiran Pokharel.
However, news has come out that President Ram Chandra Poudel has stopped Aryal's appointment after his daughter Abgaya Poudel's name was not recommended.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki told constitutional experts who went to Baluwatar on Saturday to thank them for successfully conducting the election that the President had asked her to send her daughter's name blank for appointment as a member of the National Assembly. 'The Chief Secretary should bring the comments from the President for the National Assembly member, send the name blank, I will add the name myself and approve the recommendation,' a senior advocate had said, quoting the Prime Minister. But there is no truth in this, said the advisor Pokharel.
'I do not believe that the Honorable Prime Minister said such an untrue thing. "It is untrue and false to say that the daughter is trying to keep her name and send it with the name blank," Pokharel said. "The recommendation is under consideration, taking into account the situation of the government being formed with the popular will, the constitutional provisions, and the writ filed in the court. Nothing more than that."
