A human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign against cervical cancer will be conducted in Dolpa, Humla, Jumla and Manang. Girls in these four districts missed out on the vaccination due to snowfall in January and schools could not be opened.
The government is going to conduct a vaccination campaign in these four districts from the second week of Chaitra.
According to Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Head of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch of the Department of Health Services, instructions have been given to those districts and health workers have been trained to make necessary preparations for the campaign.
From January 25 to February 15, girls in the 10-year-old age group studying in grade 6 and out of school were vaccinated against HPV. Similarly, girls in grades 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 who were not going to school were also vaccinated.
Head of the Vaccination Branch Dr. Gautam said that 323 girls from 73 districts were vaccinated against HPV during the campaign. The government has launched a vaccination campaign against human papillomavirus (HPV), which is the main cause of cervical cancer.
