A case has been registered against 33 people for crimes against the state and organized crime in the incident of fake rescue flights for tourists to collect insurance money.
The District Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a case in the District Court, Kathmandu, making 24 people absconding accused. An official of the Public Prosecutor's Office said that the case was registered following an investigation conducted by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police.
The police had submitted a report with an opinion demanding a compensation of 948.497 million Nepali rupees in this incident. The police, which also received complaints from foreign citizens, have also claimed a separate compensation of 2998.823 US dollars and 14,500 euros.
The investigation revealed that this crime was being committed in collusion with trekking companies, rescue companies, hospitals, helicopter companies, local agents of insurance companies and guides.
