The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that 82,100 Nepalis in West Asia have registered their details in the online registration system of the Department of Consular Services so far.

Ministry spokesperson Lok Bahadur Chhetri gave this information at a regular press conference organized at the ministry on Friday. According to him, about 6,000 of those registered in the online registration system initially informed that they were unsafe. However, he claims that the number of those feeling unsafe has decreased significantly in recent days.

Chhetri mentioned that a total of 170 contacts, including 78 calls, have been made to the ministry's emergency room from various countries in West Asia so far amid rising tensions between Israel, the US and Iran. He informed that as the situation is normalizing, most of the contacts are for information on work permits.

He also informed that the ministry is continuously collecting information about the situation of Nepalis in trouble through all its 10 missions and making necessary coordination. During the briefing, spokesperson Chhetri informed that no Nepali citizen is currently in transit abroad.

He said that 52 pilgrims who were in Jeddah have also returned home. He said that the government is serious about the safety of Nepali citizens in West Asia and is ready to rescue them if necessary.
