The Non-Resident Nepali World Conference and the 12th International Unity Convention have started selecting new leadership. The convention began on Saturday. Since this time it is a unity convention, efforts are being made to select leadership based on consensus.

If there is no consensus, the secretariat has stated that preparations are being made to vote to select a new leadership from Sunday evening through physical presence and online voting. 4,286 representatives have been selected for the convention. However, they will be able to participate in the election online, saying that not all of them could reach the convention venue.

A high-level organizing committee was formed under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Balananda Sharma for the unity convention. The convention discussed various sessions including the Non-Resident Nepali Act, the economic, social and cultural rights granted to non-resident Nepali citizens, joint investment by non-resident Nepalis, tourism, health, knowledge, skill and technology transfer, and connecting women, youth and the second generation with Nepal.
