A youth was injured when the police opened fire in self-defense after a fatal attack on a policeman in Manahari, Makawanpur. Police Assistant Inspector Dil Bahadur Tamang and 19-year-old Sanis Titung of Hatigouda, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-12 were injured in the incident.
Sanis Titung and other youths had attacked Assistant Inspector Tamang with a beer bottle, khukuri and axe, while Titung was injured after being shot by a pistol fired by the police in self-defense.
Both the injured are being treated at the Churhill Hospital in Hetauda, according to the District Police Office, Makawanpur. A police team under the command of Police Assistant Inspector Dil Bahadur Tamang of the Padampokhari Police Post had reached Makawanpur after receiving information that an elderly woman was having a fight along with drug use at her house in Manahari Rural Municipality-1.
While the police team was questioning, Titung and other youths had injured Prasani Tamang by hitting her with a beer bottle, axe, and khukuri on both her hands. Tamang immediately opened fire with a self-defense pistol.
Titung was injured in the right side of her stomach by the bullet fired by Tamang. An additional police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, went to the scene on Wednesday night and arrested Sanjay Jimba, 24, of Ramantar, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-12, and Ajay Thing, 35, of the same place.
Police have stated that the arrested Jimba, Thing, and the injured person have been involved in drug dealing, murder, and theft in the past. The injured and arrested youths had a fight in the village after consuming drugs at the house of an old woman in Makari.
