Ganesh Poudel of the National Independent Party (NISP) has won in Rautahat-4. He has prevented Dev Prasad Timalsina of the Nepali Congress from winning the election. Poudel received 36,876 votes. His nearest rival Timalsina received 15,865 votes. Ram Kumar Bhattarai of the Nepali Communist Party had to settle for 9,778 votes. Rishi Dhamala, who became a candidate from the journalism field, could not save his deposit. Dhamala received 655 votes.
Timalsina of the Congress had won in this constituency in 2074 and 2079. Now Poudel has snatched away the legacy of the Congress from the votes.
