Congress candidate Mohan Acharya has won the House of Representatives election for the third time in Rasuwa. Chief Election Officer Dhubra Kumar Upreti said that Acharya won by getting 10,656 votes. His rival, Basanta Bhatta of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) got 5,571 votes. UML's Prem Bahadur Tamang got 4,688 votes. 48-year-old Acharya is from Uttargaya Rural Municipality of Rasuwa. He was also elected to the House of Representatives in 2074 and 2079. He started politics by joining the Nepal Students' Union in 2048. He was elected as a member of the Congress Mahasamiti in 2072 and as a central member in 2078. Acharya won the 2079 election through an alliance with the then CPN-Maoist Center.
When he received 18,235 votes. He also defeated the UML and Maoist Left Alliance in 2074 BS. He served as a member of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament.
