Kathmandu (Kash) – India and the United States have congratulated Nepal on Thursday for the successful completion of the House of Representatives elections as mandated by the Gen-G uprising in Bhadau.

The US Embassy in Nepal congratulated the Nepali people on the successful completion of the elections and expressed its eagerness to work together towards the common goals of prosperity and security for both countries.
‘Hearty congratulations to the Nepali people on the successful completion of the elections.

We look forward to working with the next government on the common goals of prosperity and security for both our countries,’ the US Embassy in Nepal wrote on its Facebook account. Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that Nepal’s election was enthusiastically participated in. He congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki and stakeholders for the successful completion of the elections.

The Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), which participated in the election observation, said that the elections were conducted peacefully and in an orderly manner. Voting was found to be very effective in most places, according to NFREL. It concluded that there were some weaknesses in the security arrangements, citing the lack of disability-friendly infrastructure and the lack of necessary access for senior citizens at many polling stations.

Meanwhile, international media seems to have given the election a lot of attention and priority. The Associated Press (AP) has analyzed that the post-election government will have to address the demands of the Gen-G movement, fight corruption, and balance relations with two powerful neighbors, India and China.

The BBC has stated that corruption, economic hardship, and inequality have become the main issues of this election. The Guardian has a news titled ‘Nepalese vote in the battle of powerful youth campaign against the old’. Reuters has published a news titled ‘Voters seek change after the demonstration of youth leadership’.

Bloomberg has also published a news titled ‘Nepal’s young rapper Balen Shah in battle with old leaders’. German media outlet DW has published a news story titled ‘Gen-G in the hope of real political reform’. However, it has been noted that the number of Gen-G candidates in this election is very low. ‘Only about 5 percent of candidates from this age group are in the election,’ the news says, ‘Experts have pointed out that structural obstacles, a political culture that benefits the elderly, and a view that the youth are inexperienced to lead have created this situation.’
