A gun carried by police deployed at the Tawakhola (B) polling station in Katari Municipality-3, Vegetable and Fruit Center, accidentally went off on Thursday morning. The gun exploded, causing minor damage to the ballot box at the polling station.
The weapon exploded when security personnel fought, said SP Rajan Chapagain, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Udayapur. Police have said that the ballot box damaged by the explosion has been replaced and voting has resumed.
