In the House of Representatives elections held on Thursday, more women voted than men in Kapilvastu.

The voter turnout in the district was 63.63 percent. 130,463 women and 121,690 men voted, said Chief District Officer Nawaraj Gautam. Similarly, a total of 252,156 voters, including three sexual minorities, voted. 

Voting was peaceful in all the centers, including the sensitive and highly sensitive 54 polling centers in the district. District Police Chief Superintendent Santosh Acharya said that voting was conducted in a normal manner without any inconvenience due to tight security arrangements.

Voting was conducted at 491 polling centers out of 236 polling stations in the district. 98 candidates, including 49 from political parties and 49 independents, are contesting the elections in the three constituencies of the district. There were 396,265 voters, including four sexual minorities, in the district.

65 percent of the district voted in the House of Representatives elections held on Masir 4, 2079.
