DSP Sunil Jung Shah of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said that there are fewer public and private vehicles plying on the roads of the valley. 'Many passengers have left due to the elections,' he said, 'due to which there has been no problem in traffic management in the valley for the past few days, the number of vehicles plying is very low.' Since most of the traffic police are deployed for election security, traffic management work is being done with limited manpower.
According to DSP Shah, the traffic police are checking vehicles leaving the valley at Nagdhunga, Balaju, Samakhusi in Kathmandu, Jagati in Bhaktapur, Pharping and Chapagaun checkpoints in Lalitpur and sending them only after alerting the passengers about their journey. "Especially, motorcycle passengers have been made aware of accidents caused by speeding," he said. "We are reminding them not to drive under the influence of alcohol and not to drive at high speeds." According to the traffic police, the number of passengers and vehicles leaving the valley on Wednesday has decreased. According to the traffic police, only medium-distance vehicles left the valley after the election on Thursday was closed from 12 midnight on Wednesday.
