In Jumla's Tatopani Rural Municipality-3 Litakot, the rural municipality vice-chairwoman Revati Rawal was beaten up. On Monday evening, it is alleged that the family of Aite Sarki from the village beat her up.

According to Vice-chairwoman Rawal's husband Bhakta Bahadur Rawal, Aite Sarki's son Nari Sarki, two daughters and two daughters-in-law also helped in the beating. 'Those involved in the beating had consumed alcohol,' Bhakta Bahadur said, 'Rawal, who was injured in the beating, is being treated at the Karnali Health Sciences Institute Teaching Hospital, Jumla.'

Vice-chairwoman Rawal has difficulty speaking and has a serious head injury. Rawal has filed a complaint with the District Administration Office, Jumla, demanding action against those involved in the beating. Vice-chairwoman Rawal claimed that she was attacked when there was not even a simple dispute. 'The attackers had once built a staircase in the house. They had already taken money for that,' she said, 'I have no other business or reason to beat me.'

'I was beaten up in the village before. We reconciled because it was a village matter,' said Vice President Rawal, 'Now I was beaten up again. There will be no reconciliation under any circumstances. Legal action should be taken against the culprit.'

The police have said that the incident is being investigated. District Police Chief DSP Rabin Babu Regmi said that a complaint has been filed against the attacker. He said, 'The accused of the incident has been summoned. If he does not come himself, we will arrest him and bring him.'
