The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started collecting details of Nepali workers at risk of the ongoing war in the Gulf region. The foreign ministry has started collecting details of Nepalis working in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq through the consular department. Based on the details, the embassy will identify those who need rescue or not. The Nepali embassy has made public a website prepared to collect details.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that Nepali workers in all areas are normal and safe. ‘We have received details from 10 missions overseeing the Gulf region that Nepalis are safe,’ Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri said at a press conference, ‘The Nepali embassy is in close contact and coordination with government agencies and the Nepali community.’
He said that an emergency response team has been formed under the leadership of the Foreign Secretary. ‘It is believed that this can work effectively for the safety and rescue of Nepalis,’ he said.
Ramkaji Khadka, Head of the West Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the government is giving high importance to the security and safety of citizens and foreigners. 'Hotel and food arrangements are being made by the relevant airlines for Nepalis in transit,' he said, 'Initiatives are being made to arrange accommodation and food for 35 people who have gone to Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah.' He said that 28 Air Arabia passengers and 80 Fly Dubai passengers are in transit.
