Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expressed satisfaction that the government she led has been able to lead to the elections after the Gen-G protests of 23 and 24 Bhadra. Prime Minister Karki said this while addressing the countrymen before the beginning of the silence period.
‘Today, I am satisfied that we have come this far after overcoming that difficult transition. We have succeeded in establishing the rule of law and moving forward with stability on the path of the constitution,’ Karki said, ‘This achievement is the result of the restraint and cooperation of you and all of us Nepali people.’
She said that today, at a special moment, she wanted to share some things with her heart, and Karki commented that the country has once again reached an important turning point in history.
‘On the coming Falgun 21, we will decide the future of ourselves and our country.’ But before that, our cultural festival Holi, or Fagu Purnima, has fallen. Both this celebration of colors and this preparation for the election are equally meaningful for us,’ Karki said, ‘You all remember the time when I took on this responsibility.’ The situation after the Gen-G movement was complex, sensitive and challenging. There was anger among the youth on the streets, fear in everyone's hearts, and the future of the country was in doubt.'
