31 international flights operating from Kathmandu have been canceled due to restrictions on the airspace of some Gulf countries.

According to a statement issued by the airport, scheduled international flights to and from Kathmandu have been affected due to the temporary closure of the Gulf airspace.

The affected airlines include Jazeera Airways, Kuwait Airways, Air Arabia, Fly Dubai, Nepal Airlines, Qatar Airways and Himalaya Airlines. The flights on the Kuwait-Kathmandu-Kuwait, Sharjah-Kathmandu-Sharjah, Abu Dhabi-Kathmandu-Abu Dhabi, Dubai-Kathmandu-Dubai, Doha-Kathmandu-Doha and Kathmandu-Doha sectors have been canceled, the statement said.

Some flights of Air Arabia and Fly Dubai have been canceled until Tuesday.

The countries whose airspace has been closed include Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Bahrain.

The airport has said that it is coordinating with the relevant airlines and agencies to make passenger management smooth and effective. 

Affected passengers have been urged to contact the relevant airlines for more information and rescheduling of their flights.

Earlier, 41 flights were canceled on Saturday and Sunday. According to the airport's preliminary data, about 6,800 passengers were stranded due to the affected flights.
