The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has approached the Supreme Court against former minister Ranjita Shrestha, who was released on bail by a special court in the Lichibari case in Pokhara.
The CIAA has filed a petition demanding that the order seeking bail be quashed and Shrestha, the chairperson of the Civil Liberation Party (NUPA), which merged with the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), be sent to detention.
The CIAA has claimed that the special court's order to release Ranjita on a bail of five hundred thousand rupees is erroneous.
The CIAA has demanded that the case be continued by keeping her in detention. In the same case, the CIAA has claimed that former minister Rajkumar Gupta was sent to detention for trial by the special court, but a lesser amount was demanded in Shrestha's case.
