Two Qatar Airways Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner widebody aircraft were grounded at Tribhuvan International Airport after landing on Saturday.

Flight QR644 from Doha to Kathmandu landed at 6:12 p.m. on Saturday, while flight QR646 landed at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday. Both aircraft arrived in Kathmandu on February 28.

According to airport spokesperson Satish Basnet, both widebody aircraft are currently grounded in Kathmandu. The grounded aircraft have a capacity of 300 passengers.

According to the airline, around 600 passengers who were going to Doha on both flights have been sent home. Qatar has said that arrangements have been made for passengers who do not want to refund their tickets to use their tickets on Saturday within 14 days.

It is still unclear when flights will resume regularly.
