There is a situation to vote with confidence: Home Minister Aryal

What you should know

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has claimed that the people are in a position to vote with confidence.

Home Minister Aryal said this in a meeting with media persons after participating in a meeting on ‘Current Situation of Election Security: Challenges and Solutions’ with officials of the Central Security Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs in Birgunj on Friday. ‘The people are in a position to vote with confidence,’ he said, ‘This time we will provide political good governance along with security.’

He said that the Election Commission will also lay the foundation for political good governance in this election, while in previous elections, only administrative good governance was a matter of concern.

He said that this interim/civilian government will bring anyone who violates the law to justice. He also said that after on-site monitoring of Parsa, Bara and Rautahat districts, he did not find any major challenges regarding the elections in these districts.

‘We did not find any major security challenges in all three districts,’ he said, ‘It was found that the District Security Committee has brought all the problems and challenges under control and legal action.’ Aryal also said that all preparations have been made to ensure security in the districts.

Earlier in the meeting, Home Minister Aryal had directed the heads of the security agencies in the districts to increase their morale and motivation and expressed his commitment that the government would not allow a shortage of resources, means and manpower to conduct the elections. He also promised that the Ministry of Home Affairs would provide immediate solutions and instructions to the security chiefs if they had any doubts.

The meeting was attended by Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari, Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal, Madhesh Province Chief of Nepal Police DIG Govinda Thapaliya, Chief District Officers of Parsa and Bara, Superintendents of Nepal and Armed Police, and Army Ganapatis.

The Chief District Officers and security agency heads of both districts had informed the Home Minister about the security situation.
