The Supreme Court has ordered the release of Durga Prasai. A joint bench of Supreme Court Justices Manon Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel ordered the release of Prasai while hearing a habeas corpus petition.
Uma Prasai, a medical practitioner and coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign, had filed a habeas corpus petition on behalf of Prasai. Earlier, the Supreme Court had ordered him to appear in court on February 21 with a show cause notice and a habeas corpus petition.
Prasai has been arrested and released on various occasions. The police had last arrested him on Monday night for investigation into his latest statement. The family filed a habeas corpus petition after the district court extended his time and started the investigation.
