An indefinite curfew has been imposed in Birgunj, Parsa.

The District Administration Office, Parsa, has said that the curfew has been imposed considering the latest security situation as the dispute between the two communities is escalating.

The curfew will remain in effect from 9:45 am on Monday until further orders. The curfew will be enforced within the Birgunj Metropolitan City. 

Movement, gatherings, processions, demonstrations, meetings, and encirclements will not be allowed during the curfew.

A dispute over a general issue of vehicle parking in Shreepur, Birgunj on Sunday night escalated into a dispute between two communities. 

About half a dozen people were slightly injured in the incident.  One person was taken into custody that night, informed DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet, spokesperson of the Parsa Police. 

Although security personnel brought the situation under control overnight, the administration imposed a curfew after tension flared up again in the Sripur area on Monday morning.
