Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has said that if governance is transparent, accountable to the people and honest in a democracy, the number of martyrs in the country will stop.
Speaking at a program organized in Hetauda on the occasion of Democracy Day on Thursday, Chief Minister Baniya said that no one should create an environment where they feel discriminated against in democracy. "Whether it is democracy or any other system, if people are not treated with honesty, there will be discord in the country. Therefore, I urge all levels of government, security agencies and civil servants to perform their assigned tasks with integrity," said Chief Minister Baniya.
Stating that there are protests against tyrannical rule in the name of democracy and undemocratic activities in the name of democracy, Chief Minister Baniya expressed confidence that the elections to be held on Falgun 21 will move the country towards stability.
Bagmati Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota was the chief guest at the speech program organized at the premises of the Bagmati Province Chief Minister's Office. Tableaux of various communities, including the Tamang community, were displayed at the said program.
